We're a small, independent resource built by cat lovers in India — for cat lovers in India. cattoys.co.in exists because we believe every indoor cat deserves a life full of play, discovery and comfort, no matter how compact the apartment or how busy the schedule.

Our Story

It started, as most cat stories do, with one cat. When I brought home my first rescue — a wary little tabby from a Delhi shelter — I did what any new cat parent does: I bought every toy I could find. A flashing laser, a jingly ball, an imported puzzle feeder that cost more than my week's groceries. Within days the laser was ignored, the ball was lost under the sofa, and the puzzle feeder was too complicated for a cat who'd never seen one before.

I realized the problem wasn't the cat — it was the approach. Most cat toy advice online comes from Western markets with bigger homes, different climates and very different budgets. Indoor cats in Mumbai apartments, Bangalore flats and Delhi high-rises face their own set of challenges: limited space, hot summers that sap energy, and a market flooded with cheap imports that break within days or use questionable materials.

So I started researching. I spoke to fellow cat parents in Indian communities, compared notes in WhatsApp groups, tested dozens of toys with my own growing clowder (we're at three now), and built a framework for what actually works. cattoys.co.in is the resource I wish I'd had on day one — honest, India-specific, and focused on quality over quantity.

How We Choose Toys

Every toy that makes it onto our site passes through a simple but consistent selection process. We're not a lab and we don't pretend to be — but we are thorough, and we're transparent about what we look for:

Real-World Testing

We let actual cats — our own three, plus a network of fellow cat-parent volunteers across India — play with every toy we recommend. If it doesn't hold their attention for more than a few sessions, it doesn't make the cut. We observe how the toy holds up over weeks, not just the first five minutes of novelty.

Safety & Durability Check

We check for choking hazards, loose parts that could detach, toxic-smelling plastics, and sharp edges. For catnip toys, we verify the catnip source. For automated toys, we test battery safety and motor noise. We avoid anything that feels flimsy or smells of harsh chemicals right out of the box.

India-Ready Assessment

We evaluate toys against the realities of Indian homes: Does it work on tiled floors? Is it quiet enough for apartment living? Can it survive a power cut or a curious toddler? Is it available at a fair price locally, or does it require expensive international shipping? A great toy that's impossible to buy in India isn't useful to anyone.

Hi, I'm Priya — the person behind cattoys.co.in. I live in Delhi with three rescue cats: Mochi (the lazy tabby who started it all), Chutney (a chaos-goblin calico who puts every toy through the ultimate stress test), and Dosa (a dignified senior gentleman who reminds us that older cats need enrichment too).

I'm not a veterinarian or a pet industry professional. I'm a cat parent who got tired of wasting money on toys that broke, bored my cats, or were clearly designed for someone else's living room. This site is my way of sharing what I've learned — the hard way — so other Indian cat parents don't have to repeat my mistakes.

When I'm not testing wand toys or photographing puzzle feeders, I'm active in Indian cat rescue and adoption communities, where I learn something new about feline behaviour almost every day. Those conversations — with vets, rescuers, and everyday cat parents across the country — shape every recommendation on this site.
